So the premiere of Hell’s Kitchen last week did not disappoint. It’s a little over the top I think, but in a good way. The moment Gordon Ramsay tasted a wannabechef’s “signature dish,” leaned over and promptly vomited profusely, I knew my favourite mean old chef was back
I already have contestants I want gone because of sheer annoyance. Already think I can spot the ones who will make it to the end. I was surprised that the women have a new sous chef to guide them. I liked the other one. Er, well obviously not well enough to remember her name or anything.
I’ve missed Jean-Phillipe and his adorably snooty maître d’ attitude. Most of all I’ve missed the howls of “YES CHEF!” whenever Gordon tells them they suck.
Do the Kitchen is open, and on tonight at 8 CST Enjoy!

Why I stopped watching American Idol by TV Chick on March 14th, 2008 I think I started watching AI in the middle of the first season, mainly just to see what the hype was about.
Ok, from my last few posts you *may* have guessed I like a bit of the sci-fi. You’d be correct in that assumption. But I fail bigtime because I completely spaced on the premiere (UK) of the new season of Doctor Who on Saturday. I blame that on being so focused on the Big Finale of Torchwood and the ‘is he or isn’t he’ evil of James Marsters’ character on it that the new Who escaped my mind entirely. And for the record, I’m not going to spoil the finale until after it airs in the states. All I’m saying is, “Damn that was a good finale.”)
Back to The Doctor, the premiere was full of surprises. It was funny, endearing, a little melancholy… There was a big ‘Whoah!’ moment towards the end and well, it just delivered. Again, I don’t want to spoil it because I do not know when it will premiere here in the states. But if you’re a fan, or even if you are thinking about checking it out, the new season (the fourth one in the new incarnation of the series) comes highly recommended.
Tonight is the series finale of Torchwood. In the UK. We’re a couple of episodes behind here in Yankeeland. So why am I posting about it now? Because by the time it airs on BBC America, it will already have been downloaded or streamed to fans on this side of the pond. I am impatient. I need a James Marsters fix and the fact that he happens to be the guest star on the last episode of one of my favourite shows is just a big old bonus for me.
Here’s the official summary for the finale: Captain John returns to have his revenge on Torchwood. Taking Captain Jack prisoner he sends him back in time for a long overdue reunion. Without their leader Torchwood are faced with a city flooded with Weevils, on the brink of destruction. But who is Captain John really working for? Can anyone trust him? And how great a price must Torchwood pay to save the city?
Can. Not. Wait! Marsters has said in numerous interviews that he’s had a blast working with John Barrowman (Captain Jack), Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper), Burn Gorman (Owen Harper), Naoko Mori (Toshiko Sato), and Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones) and though nothing is confirmed, I’m definitely hoping he’ll be back next season.
I won’t rehash what Torchwood’s all about if you’ve never seen it - you can see that here. All I’m going to say is if you like dark, funny sci-fi, head over to BBC America on Saturdays and check it out!
In an effort to get a regular posting rhythm going, I’m going to try and post some recommendations on what to watch each evening. I’ll tell you right up front this will be difficult for me since I’m sort of in DVD limbo and haven’t turned on the telly too much lately except to play with the new Wii (I’m rockin’ my bowling score though )
But there are a lot of shows worth watching - stuff I hear buzz about or even personal faves. So with that said, here we go.
Tonight looks like there are a lot of new (as in not repeats) shows on the networks. A new “My Name is Earl,” new CSI and Without a Trace on CBS but pretty much the only thing I’ll be watching is a new “Survivor.” Yes, I still enjoy this show. I do not know why, but I do. It’s like a comfy, familiar blanket I find in the closet a couple times a year that I can snuggle up with.
There is no new “Lost” tonight but I’m not fussed. I have four previous episodes sitting in my DVR queue that i will probably not get around to watching.
If forensics or jungle dramas aren’t your cups of tea, AMC is showing Harrison Ford and Sean Bean in “Patriot Games,” WE is showing *teenage sigh* “Sixteen Candles,” HBO Family is showing the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor classic, “Silver Streak” or there’s “Platoon” on Encore. I’ve never seen “Platoon,” but I’ve been told it’s very good
A sort of one-sheet for the musical is now online at the official website: (Please don’t hotlink to this image. Store it on your own server. It’s just polite.)
Filming is complete and some insider fan reports are starting to trickle out about the project. Don’t click any of the following links if you don’t want to be spoiled
From everything I’ve seen, heard and read, it looks like this project was a lot of fun, is full of great Joss music, stunts, lairs, heroes and villains. I wish I had a release date to share, but no word on that yet.
