In a photo that didn’t make the paper, Jessica Trejo takes a tumble at the end of the girls Class D 100 meter run, but she came back to win the girls Class D 200 meter run the same day.

Just like this portrait of Fred with his work.

Inspired by the “Mader” character from the movie “Cars,” Grand Island Body Shop owner Fred Schritt has created “The Peppermint Kidd” tow truck that has since been placed on a 20-feet-high pole at his business.

Practice Fire

I know it’s only a practice fire, but is still looks cool…or hot if you’re one of the firemen.

Horse Race Panning

Looking for something different for a news/feature photo from the biggest racing day of the year at Fonner Park, I tried a bit of panning and liked this resulting photo the best.

The crowd is bigger than usual for the 20th running of the $75,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes at Fonner Park in Grand Island. During the third race of the day, Speedy Deposit (left), ridden by Luis Ranilla, trails Royal Mr. G, ridden by Mike Ziegler, and New Kirks Trick (right), ridden by Jordan Olesiak, during the opening stretch.

Flute Choir

Flute Choir

About three-to-four weeks before their performance in town, two members of a flute choir come in for an interview and photo. What to do? Had a vision, and fun in Photoshop resulted in this image.

Heartland Community Flute Choir director and organizer Dr. Christine Beard (right) and fellow flutist Bethany McAcy are part of a 25-to 40-member flute choir scheduled to perform at College Park in Grand Island at 7 p.m. on May 2.
