Cold & Wind Blown

Cold & Wind Blown

This is the result of an assignment to get a photo of the cold windy conditions of the day. How do you take a photo of something that’s not visible? In this case, find something that the wind is affecting and hope someone walks by in cold weather clothing. No one did during the half hour I waited before looking and finding another photo elsewhere. I almost didn’t go back. But, as I did, I saw this guy walking toward the scene and got to my spot just in time. Thankfully, the wind was actually blowing at that moment too.

As the wind blows balloons attached to a light post parallel to the ground, a pedestrian walks along Fourth Street in Grand Island. Windy conditions made for below zero wind-chill conditions as temperatures stayed in the single digits through the morning.
