So I am working on creating Twitter accounts for every reporter. Once they begin updating regularly, I will add them to the list to the left, of Independent Twitterers that you can follow. And to kick off that list, our own Scott Kingsley (@skingsley) is jumping into it with enthusiasm! He’ll tweet from the road as he works through his photo assignments, reporting any news he may come across, or you can just enjoy reading tweets about the life of a professional photographer.

Also welcome to @georgeayoub! George is dreaming up all kinds of fancy ways to implement Twitter so he’s worth following!

We also have a goal of getting some public figures into our studio for in-depth interviews and discussion as well as having our reporters go on camera to talk about stories they cover on their beats.

Our resident columnist, George Ayoub, is trying his hand at a video blog. It’s called A Shoe on the Freeway and it should be a lot of fun to keep up with, so add it to your favorite feedreader! We’re not sure how often he will post a new video for your viewing pleasure, but we’ll get into a pattern eventually

Today, glitches aside, we hope to see a lot of folks in our live chat with George Ayoub as he sits courtside at today’s GICC vs. Ravenna game. That promises to be an exciting showdown! We experienced technical difficulties with the chat yesterday and we apologize for that, but it should be back to normal today.

We also have a lot of great video highlights from several games yesterday from our awesome videographer, Adam Maser so be sure to check those out!

City Council tonight has a few important topics going on including discussion on the Broadwell Underpass idea and a roundabout installation on Capital Ave. At the end of the meeting, Councilwoman Joyce Haase will try to get a vote on whether to implement a smoking ban in Grand Island. Watch our front page online for an update on that after the meeting tonight.

We have some exciting things in the pipeline regarding blogs. George Ayoub is working on starting a video blog that should be a lot of fun to produce and our photographers are working on a blog that will showcase their work. I can’t wait to bookmark that one! We also would like to start adding links to local Grand Island/Hall County bloggers. We will put a link to your blog at grandislandblogs.com and throw some traffic your way. We are looking for themed blogs so if you run a blog about being a parent, or scrapbooking, or auto restoration etc. Let us know and we’ll check it out and link it up!
