  • Commenting Will Require Registration

According to The Independent’s parent company, GateHouse Media, at 9AM EST on Wednesday 6/11/08 we will integrate commenting registration across all sites.

If you wish to comment on articles on our website, you will have to register and provide a valid email address. This is being implemented company-wide for all GateHouse Media newspapers which means it is not a feature we have the option to shut off.

I have been trying to register but never recieve the needed url to my email address.

And haven’t we been through this before? Making people “register” is just a way of limiting free speech.

Are you trying to lower your website contacts? People will be going back to the Lincoln Journal Star. No registration required there.

I can’t get registered through your website. The address provided to me wasn’t working. This is frustrating, this happened to me the last time you guys changed your policy. Makes me want to go elsewhere for my news and to be able to post my opinion.

Try copying and pasting the email confirmation URL into your browser to confirm. This is an issue with the software and we are working on getting it fixed.
