Here it is, a new year and new changes will be happening to us in the coming year as we transition to our new company.  I just want to give fair warning that there could be some bumps in the road as we learn new tools and rebuild our website using those tools.

One of the big changes coming will be completely different software used for our popular Spotted site. The software we currently use is proprietary software from Morris and in order to continue to use it, we will have to begin paying for it. It’s fairly expensive and frankly an unnecessary expense when we can recreate it with different - free - open-source software which is what we’re going to be doing. It will look a little different and may require some retraining for our users, but eventually it will be very cool.

In other news, Sarah Schulz has returned to her Cops and Court beat after taking time off to look after her new kidlet. It’s great to have her back and the news staff is back at full capacity now.

So moving into 2008, there will be big changes for the website and I’ll keep this blog up-to-date on all that stuff.
