Ch-ch-changes

And that means busy. Our annual Santa’s Helper campaign kicked off today. Good deals going there if you can find the Santa pic. We’re on day three of the Twelve Days of Christmas so check that out as well.

Today’s also the last day for our Multimedia guru, Anthony May. We’re going to miss him around here and to prove it, we’re sending him off with lots of pizza and soda in about an hour :) We’re also losing longtime Creative Director, Becca Allen so she will be enjoying much pizza as well as closing down the Chicken Coop tonight.

The Independent will be undergoing a lot of changes soon, most of them internally I’m guessing, as Gatehouse Media takes us over. We’re very excited about the changes though. I know I am because I’ve never been through something like this. The last time the Indy was sold was in 1994 so we’ve been a part of Morris Communications for around 13 years. I joined the paper in 2004, so I’m pretty used to the Morris way of doing things.

But! I am not a change-resistor. I embrace change. You sort of have to if you’re going to be in the technology field. If you try to hold on to what you’re comfortable with you’re going to stagnate and become about as obsolete as a Commodore 64. So I believe everyone here at the paper is excited about being under the GateHouse umbrella.

Which is not to say we won’t miss the good folks at Morris who’ve helped us, put up with our last minute helpdesk tickets, given us cool technology like our Spotted Galleries and have just generally been good people to know.  But like everyone in the Newspaper biz, we look to the future. It’s going to be great.
