W00t! Corbin has blogged in his shiny new space called Cinemuck. Corbin is one of our fine Copy Editors and a lover of all things cinematic. He also works for the Mall 7 theater at the Conestoga so he’s right in there when it comes to knowing what’s the what at the movies. Head over to his place and check out his first post. Add him to your favorite feedreader and keep up with Cinemuck.

In other news, The Independent’s Twitter account is up and running as you can tell from the spiffy little badge over on the right there. I figure, as a Twitterer myself, why on earth are we not using this fun little program to post news updates and stuff? Ok, so I hear a collective, ” What the bleep is Twitter anyway?”

Well it’s horribly addictive for one thing. For another, it’s pretty fun. It’s just a little social program you can use to tell the world what you’re doing right this second in 140 characters or less. It’s like a text message. You get followers and you follow people and read their ‘tweets’ etc. either via the web, through instant messengers or via your mobile phone. It’s been around for a couple of years or so and is growing in popularity.

So if you tweet, and want to receive Independent updates on your mobile, or even just via the web, click here to follow us. You do have to sign up for the free service but once you do, it won’t be long before you’re as addicted to it as I am.

Finally, look for this month’s issue of Silver Salute in your paper tomorrow. Pete Letheby, editor extraordinaire of our Sesquicentennial History Book - phew! Sesquicentennial is hard to spell - is working diligently as I type on getting the Silver Salute pages together and ready for print.
