Seriously, you can be just like me.

Day 48.

I was asked yesterday if it was too late to join the fun of training for the half-marathon. I was also asked many times, like I am everyday, how my training is going. And, I was asked to get another hamburger off the grill.

The answers were: no I don’t think so, great it’s fun I’m doing good, and OK the first two were good.

I think you can still get ready for the half-marathon, but you need to work hard. I think you’d need to be able to start today, and quickly get up to three miles, then increase that total each week. My goal, since I’m not quite on the training schedule, but close, is to get to six miles this Sunday, then increase to seven in a few weeks, then eight two or three weeks before the big run and maybe try nine or ten the week before. I’ll probably do 3 and a half or four miles each Tuesday and four or five on Thursdays. Wednesdays, like today, will be for slow but steady 25 to 30 minute bike rides. Saturdays will be light walks or like bike rides. Monday and Friday will be stretch and rest days.

How’s the training going? I guess it’s going great. I enjoy it. It is definately something I’ve found to be challenging, fun, worthwile, entertaining and benefitial. I’ve gotten into shape, lost weight and found something I can actually do. Plus I’m really enjoying writing this blog, no matter how many people are reading it. It’s been another benefit to the training. And my progress has been good enough that I’m confident I will complete the half-marathon.

And I went to a cookout last night. I overate. But guess what? I’m allowed to do that once in a while. I had two hamburgers and a chicken leg off the grill. And it was all good.

I need my energy, right?
