The sum is greater than the runner.
Day 12.
I did it. I ran a half-marathon.
It took some time. But I did it. I’ve talked to some friends who’ve run them before, and their times are slightly better than mine. Mark I think did 1 hr. 45 min. Eric did 2 hr. 4 min.
I took about ten days.
I passed the 13.1 mile mark in my running today. I know, I know. It’s pretty amazing, isn’t it? People told me it would be tough. They were right. Boy, I didn’t think I was going to make it for a while there.
At one point, I actually said, “Screw this. I’m not running tomorrow.” But I woke up and continued the half-marathon.
I’d like to thank all the people who helped me along the way. Even those of you who didn’t say it, but thought that I’d give up after ten days or so. I guess I proved you all wrong.
Huh?
I agreed to 13.1 miles … at ONCE?!?
Oh. Really? Then I’ll be back tomorrow.
I did run three miles today again, as the schedule says to. Cut a little time off Sunday’s run, down to 35 minutes. More importantly, to me at least, it was a lot smoother. I stopped to stretch about 16 minutes into the run, and hit that ‘makes no difference’ zone where the next step didn’t feel worse than the last one, I was already breathing hard and it wasn’t going to get much heavier. So I kept running. It was still three miles, though.
Three of just over 13. So I just have to run everything I’ve run to this point, and that’s a half-marathon.
I can do that.
Two more miles tomorrow.
